At Backyard Midland, we are driven by a passionate team of volunteers committed to making a difference in the lives of those in need. We believe in turning our convictions into meaningful actions, focusing on providing essential support to our homeless friends. Whether it’s offering a warm meal or access to a mobile shower, our goal is to fill the gaps in available services, especially on weekends when resources are often most scarce. Our journey began with our founder, Karl Boroski, who saw a critical need to support the homeless in our community. Starting with a simple act of kindness – delivering food from the back of his truck – Karl and a group of friends began raising money to provide basic living items like sleeping bags, tents, and tarps.
One day, while talking with a homeless friend, Karl and Jake Smith learned about the desperate need for access to showers. This inspired them to raise funds for a mobile shower, which has since become a valued resource in the community.
Our mission field starts right when we step outside our own front doors, and we focus on sharing our time, talents, and treasures with those around us who need it most.
